New Residence - East Toowoomba - Coming Soon
Two distinct languages share a single site at Dunmore 44, and the tension between them is the point. A carefully retained character frontage keeps faith with the street and its established East Toowoomba context, while a distinctly different contemporary addition unfolds behind it — more open, more horizontal, tuned to the garden rather than the road.
That addition draws deeply on mid-century modern principles: low-slung rooflines, broad glazing, warm timber, an expressed structural rhythm, and a close, uninterrupted relationship between interior rooms, landscape and pool. Living spaces are pitched toward ease — long sightlines, generous natural light, and a palette that favours warmth and texture over decoration for its own sake.
Rather than imitate the original house, the new work sets up a deliberate contrast while still treating it with real respect. What emerges is a home with two distinct identities — familiar to the street, wholly its own behind it — held together by proportion, material restraint and a consistent, unhurried sense of calm.
